Would you live next door to a Subaru driver?

According to UK Carline’s survey of 1,023 members of the public to find out which cars they associate with having a good neighbour, Subaru drivers were the least desirable. Presumably it’s the thought of a gang of teens racing down the street to ensure they don’t miss the latest instalment of Street Outlaws or the ‘boy racer’ type who is always working on his car in the street, usually shirtless drinking a can of Tenants while listening to drum ‘n’ bass.
If you’re cringing at the thought, imagine viewing a realistically priced beautiful three bed semi, with front and rear gardens, fully fitted kitchen and open plan kitchen diner, only to realise that Ali G’s nephew lives next door…
Unsurprisingly, Mercedes Benz owners came out top of the list of desirables with 43% associating them with being a good neighbour. In fact, it would seem that money is the foundation of any good neighbour with Audi (41%), BMW (40%), Jaguar (38%) and Porsche (30%) rounding out the rest of the top five.
Bad neighbours
Unfortunately, the list doesn’t include the model alongside the make so the list of five cars associated with being a bad neighbour may seem a little generalist.
- Subaru (15%)
- Fiat (14%)
- BMW (12%)
- Ford (11%)
- Vauxhall (10%)
As it turns out the general public have a divided opinion on BMW as the German manufacturer ranks third for good and bad neighbour. The likely story here is that BMW drivers voted themselves as good neighbours, although that is just a theory….
The moral of the story
If you’re interested in selling your property it may be worth inviting some rich friends over to park their expensive German cars along the road to increase the perceived value of the neighbourhood. Failing that just arrange viewings at a time when all the boy racers are showing off in a McDonalds car park.
